Speaker: Dr. Clifford Sussman
A local child and adolescent psychiatrist who is a nationally recognized expert on healthy screen use, Clifford Sussman, MD, will share his knowledge and answer your questions about how we help our tweens and teens maintain their involvement in academics, family, relationships, and extracurricular activities when a stimulating virtual world is more accessible than ever? The event will feature a 45 minute presentation followed by a 15 minute interactive question and answer session. This event is welcome to all parents and students interested in learning more about how to best navigate technology.
Bio:
Dr. Clifford Sussman has been in private practice in psychiatry for children, adolescents, and young adults in Washington, DC since 2008. He is an expert on internet and video game addiction whose work has been featured on NPR, in the New York Times, HBO Real Sports, Parents Magazine, and TIME Magazine for Kids. He has authored peer reviewed literature on screen use disorders and offers parent, student, and mental health clinician education on the topic of excessive screen use and how to treat it. He also treats patients with comorbid conditions, such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. He is dedicated to helping people achieve a more balanced relationship with digital technology.
Dr. Sussman completed an adult psychiatry residency at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh, PA, and a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Website: www.cliffordsussmanmd.com
