Understanding and addressing school avoidance can be challenging for both parents and children. To provide clarity and strategies, we’ve invited Dr. Meaghan R. Doyle, licensed psychologist and expert in child and adolescent assessment, to present:

“Understanding & Addressing School Avoidance: Strategies for Success”

In this session, Dr. Doyle will explore the phenomenon of school avoidance and provide parents with a deeper understanding of the behaviors and reasons behind it. You’ll learn how to differentiate between school refusal and other behavioral issues, recognize avoidance behaviors, and discover effective strategies to support your child.

About Dr. Meaghan R. Doyle
Dr. Meaghan R. Doyle is a licensed psychologist specializing in the assessment of children and adolescents with learning, attention, behavioral, social, and emotional differences. As a parent of two neurodiverse children herself, Dr. Doyle takes a neurodiversity-affirming approach to assessment, recognizing the unique strengths and positive attributes of each individual.

Dr. Doyle earned her doctorate from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Washington, D.C., and completed an APA-accredited internship at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health in Pennsylvania. She holds a Master of Science in clinical and community counseling from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Frostburg State University.

Before joining the Stixrud Group in 2018, Dr. Doyle worked in various settings, including the Charles County Department of Mental Health and the D.C. public charter school system. She also has experience in vocational rehabilitation, specializing in transitioning youth with autism and psychiatric disorders.

Dr. Doyle lives in the D.C. metro area with her husband, twin daughters, and two black cats. She enjoys traveling, live music, cross-stitching, and spending time with her family. She is also an adjunct faculty member at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in D.C.
